Wolf Webinars
Recently, we hosted a webinar titled “Taxes in Retirement: What to Think About Before & After Filing.” The discussion focused on helping individuals who are nearing or already in retirement better understand how their income decisions today can impact taxes over time.
One key takeaway from the presentation was the difference between simply filing a tax return and planning ahead with taxes in mind. Tax preparation typically looks back at what happened last year and focuses on reporting and compliance. Financial planning, however, looks forward - coordinating income timing, evaluating how decisions affect future taxes, and considering how those choices may play out over multiple years.
This type of planning can be especially important in retirement, where withdrawals, Social Security timing, and other income sources can interact in ways that affect long-term tax outcomes.
